We offer a growing catalog of creative, artistic transcriptions and new works for bass clarinet solo & ensemble.
About the Work
Dex(D)200 is a short serial miniature for flute, clarinet and bass clarinet. The work's short length, and lack of any extreme challenges of technique or range for any of the players, make it an accessible work for advanced students, as well as a strong addition to a concert program!
Extended-range instrument NOT required. Score: 3 pages, booklet. Parts: 1 page each.
About the Composer
Oliver Pickup (1994) is a British composer from York, UK. Oliver studied at the University of York specialising in Composition and studied with composers such as Martin Suckling, Roger Marsh, Thomas Simaku, John Stringer and Ambrose Field. Much of Oliver's work focuses on the use of performer placement and sound localisation as a primary factor in the compositional process for acoustic and electro-acoustic chamber ensembles.
Outside of the world of modern classical music, Oliver also enjoys working with modal harmony and incorporating this into more light music as a way to bring exciting flavours to people who may not have had any experience with this type of harmony. As a conductor, Oliver has premiered new works by composers such as Catherine Robson, Eilidh Pollard and Rose Hall, and acts as a freelance musical director.
Duo Alea began performing music for bass clarinet and piano in 1996. As both performers searching for new repertoire and teachers working with students eager to develop as performers, it quickly became clear that there was a need for more repertoire featuring the bass clarinet. Filling this need became the mission of Alea Publishing & Recording.
Since our first publication in 1997, the Bach Suites, the Alea catalog now includes well over 200 titles. As performing musicians ourselves, we pride ourselves on the accuracy and quality of our sheet music, as well as our ability to ship directly to customers around the world.
As our catalog grows, we offer an open call for scores - e-mail us for more information! In addition to new works, we are also interested to consider artistic transcriptions for publication. We are proud of the diversity of our catalog in terms of the inclusion of works by composers and arrangers from around the world. We are interested in continuing to expand this diversity, representing musical ideas from around the world.
