This site is home to Alea Publishing & Recording, specializing in music for the bass clarinet.
We offer a growing catalog of creative, artistic transcriptions and new works for bass clarinet solo & ensemble.
About the Music
Frederick Delius (1862-1934) was an English composer whose work was influenced both by European composers such as Wagner and Grieg, and also by his exposure to American and specifically African-American music during a brief time spent in the United States.
The Romance, originally for 'cello and piano, is a lyrical single-movement work, with no great challenges of range or technique. This arrangement for bass clarinet and piano would make an excellent addition to a recital program, or serve equally well for audition or contest purposes.
Extended-range instrument NOT required. Piano score: 7 pages, spiral bound; part: 2 pages, booklet.
About the Arranger
Andrew Sprung is second clarinetist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra (Traverse City, Michigan) and adjunct instructor of clarinet at Spring Arbor University and Hillsdale College. He has performed with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Ballet, Windsor (Canada) Symphony Orchestra, Windsor Light Music Theatre, and others. He holds a D.M.A. degree from Michigan State University, M.M. from Bowling Green State University, and B.A. from Iowa State University. He is a Selmer Paris artist.

Duo Alea began performing music for bass clarinet and piano in 1996. As both performers searching for new repertoire and teachers working with students eager to develop as performers, it quickly became clear that there was a need for more repertoire featuring the bass clarinet. Filling this need became the mission of Alea Publishing & Recording.
Since our first publication in 1997, the Bach Suites, the Alea catalog now includes over 250 titles. As performing musicians ourselves, we pride ourselves on the accuracy and quality of our sheet music, as well as our ability to ship directly to customers around the world.
We are proud of the diversity of our catalog in terms of the inclusion of works by composers and arrangers from around the world. We are interested in continuing to expand this diversity, representing musical ideas from around the world.
In June 2020, we announced the creation of the Dolphy Prize for new works for bass clarinet by Black composers.
